Should have looked at Gilmercat some point today. I rigged 7.7 based on forecast. Instead got a cloud 15-25. Kept thinking it would back off and I could just be overpowered I stead of stupid overpowered. A 4.7 would have been plenty.
Alejo and another kite were here and when I was designing saw a white wing upwind. Not sure where they launched from.
I got lucky and the wind stayed between E and NE. The wind was curving down the length of the Lake, so the E wind deflected to NE and was stronger out by Three Sister’s Island.
Good to see Gene rigging as I was on my way home early .
I did have a nice solo Windfoil session on my 6.7 Friday at Van Pugh. ENE Wind. Saturday's forecast was SE so I drove to Vanns Tavern and got skunked. Wind was ENE and not much to it, I didn't rig but Langdon, Hamdi and Ed got a few rides on 7.0,8.0 and 7.5.
Speaking of Wind Direction, IMHO, in my NOT so humble opinion -
As we all know, straight East wind works at Vanns Tavern and Van Pugh. NE is better at Van Pugh, SE is better at Vanns Tavern.
So ...:
Vanns Tavern on E and SE,
Van Pugh on E, NE, N NW and W.
Old Federal (or LLSC if member or invited) on SW.
South Wind, Sucks, Stay Home.
Also, local TV forecasts that mention a cold front are better forecast, especially if preceded by some rain. Forecast that mention WEDGE usually means there MAY be some wind, sometime, over a few days, but hard to time,
Where is everybody?
Any wind?
Heading to VP now đź‘‹
A gentle breeze 10/12 maybe. - going out got first run
Hovering around 10 - had a few flights on my small foil - good conditions to practice pumping technique
Is VP good on SE wind or is Vann’s better?
