The Rudder Club of Jacksonville, FL will be hosting Foil on the River 2024 the weekend of April 5-7. There will be racing for Open/IQFoil, rec windfoilers and wings. Eduardo Rodrigues and I discussed at length after last year's event how to get more foilers of all skill levels involved. We really hope you take advantage of the opportunity. You don't need fancy or expensive foil gear to participate.
The club is on the St. John's River just south of Jacksonville (right beside where I-295 crosses the river). Even in breezy conditions, things aren't too hairy on the water, there's plenty of space and minimal power boat traffic. The club has grassy rigging areas and camping. The club has a good fleet of support boats, too, so no worries if things go sideways.
Presently, I plan on going. I hope more of you can make it. It's about five hours away and it will be nice to be in shorties and warm weather. Even if you feel you aren't a "racer", it will be a good social event. The club has a nice club house (and bar!). Sit, enjoy the view and tell stories. If you want to improve any aspect of your foiling, this is the place to do it. Hope to see you there.
Edit: Corrected interstate that crosses the river.
Update from Eduardo - plan to have a long reach course option for freeride class - upwind/downwind skills not necessary. Think of it like the 5k fun run. You just gotta go out and back. Preferably before your friend does.
