1997 LLSC Halloween Open
Nov. 1-2, 1997 at the Lake Lanier Sailing Club
Strong winds on Sunday made the lake Lanier Sailing Club (LLSC) Halloween Regatta truly a blowout. While the shortboarders down the lake were flying on 5.5s, the longboard fleet competed on 7.5s. Because of the long distance back to the launch site, the sailors were forced to sail big.
Gregg CattanachÕs performance earned him not only regatta honors but the state championship. A tight grouping prior to the regatta meant that Gregg, Scott Spreen and Dan Burch had to sail well to claim the top spot for both honors.
